It's been a year and half since Dr. Sedra helped me lay Coco to rest, and I still think about this clinic often.Coco was a perfectly healthy cat, but one day she suddenly started to have violent, concerning bouts of vomiting. Prior to Aliso Viejo, I went to another vet who didn’t seem to know what was going on; and frankly didn’t seem to care to find the root issue. After a couple of enemas and many unanswered questions, I decided to get a second opinion at Aliso Viejo.Dr. Sedra didn’t know what was going on either, but the difference was he cared. He was extremely concerned and jumped into overdrive to order tests and figure out what was going on. It was so refreshing to see after our previous vet offered nothing but temporary bandaids.Well that was the start of a months-long journey that involved Dr. Sedra, Dr. Foroud, and Dr. Brown, all of whom were amazing and did everything they could to save her. (I believe Dr. Reza may have been involved at one point but just so happened to be away).Long story short, Coco had probably a dozen visits, two overnight stays, and tried too many medications to count. There were blood tests, X-rays, and even a specialist who came to do a more intensive scan. The staff all got to know us well; they recognized my number when I called. Elizabeth and Danny were my favorites (please tell Elizabeth I say sorry about never getting back to her about her foster).The doctors were supportive of my decision to keep fighting for her. Some treatments would work for a week, some a month, and some not all. Despite everyone's amazing efforts, we never did find a definitive answer or permanent solution, but damn did we try. Eventually, they started to lightly bring up the possibility of euthanasia, but I couldn't bear to think about losing her.Fast forward to Coco’s last day. After giving her an exam, Dr. Sedra gave me a look and I just knew. I burst into tears and told him I couldn’t, and in so many words he told me it was her time. I want him to know how grateful I am for that. If I have any regrets, it’s not letting her be at peace sooner, and I needed that gentle push to let her go. I won't go into the details of her passing, but know Dr. Sedra couldn't have handled it with more grace or compassion.Unfortunately, what happened after left me with mixed feelings. I had her cremated and ordered two clay paw prints from the crematorium they partner with (or at least used to), Only Cremations for Pets. I know this isn’t their fault, but the paw prints were absolutely awful - they were sloppy, clearly rushed, and barely left an imprint. I have to keep them tucked away because I get upset when I look at them. Again, I know this isn’t their fault in the slightest, but I would advise other owners to look into different third-party options.The second thing I fully recognize as unreasonable, but I have to get it off my chest. When I came to visit Coco during one of her overnight visits, I noticed the staff passing around a condolences card for another pet who passed. After Coco died, I assumed I would get one too. Time went on, and each week it didn’t come made my heart feel heavier.Like I said, everyone got to know me and Coco so well - all her quirks and her tortitude. I would call and they would answer, “Oh no, is Coco alright?” So after all of the hours spent there and everything we went through, I would’ve really appreciated a note, especially to look back on during times like these when my grief is hitting especially hard. I know everyone there works extremely hard and it may have slipped through the cracks. And not receiving a card does not negate my immense gratitude or the amazing care they gave her, but I would be lying if I said it didn’t sting a bit, even now.I really want to end on a positive note, but I know I’ve already written a novel. I was just reflecting and wanted to reach out with my appreciation for how hard everyone worked to try to save my baby girl. Your work is so important and leaves a profound impact on people’s lives. I have been bringing my three dogs—Pablo, Frankie, and Gus—here since 2017, and I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.Most recently, I brought my Pug, Gus, in to have some growths examined and removed for biopsy. I rushed my 8 month old pug puppy in unexpectedly as her face severely swelled up like a ballon from an external bee or spider bite. Aliso Viejo Pet Hospital deserves as many stars in the sky as possible they are absolutely fantastic and thorough with everything that they do I have to say I'm more than impressed. they neutered my dog they did surgical work on his teeth they did extensive comprehensive diagnosis regarding his Paw licking with laboratory results and got him in Tip-Top shape so that he can continue to live his best life. After all of his work that was done on him they gave me back my baby looking exactly like he just woke up from an pleasurable afternoon nap. they really know what they're doing. my puppy has not been in any pain or discomfort. Job well done. All the nurses are wonderful the staff everyone there are genuinely compassionate and you don't have to wait days for results. the doctors listen to you and they are very thorough with explaining procedures makes it so much better to understand what's going on. they don't just talk at you. The doctors do absolutely beautiful clean Surgical work it's unbelievable really it's really a very wonderful place to to be in time of need with your precious pet I have to say. I like the fact that they're not like a mill packing people in. Everything is spaced out Lovely and time efficient. they follow up continually and everybody works in sync which is unheard of and they do exactly what they say they're going to do. This is a most efficient practice and I give them A thousand stars!
