Wellness Exams
Keeping Your Pet Healthy, Happy, and Thriving
At Aliso Viejo Animal Hospital, we believe preventive care is the foundation of lifelong wellness for your pet. That’s why we recommend annual wellness exams at a minimum for all dogs and cats—regardless of age, breed, or lifestyle. These visits give our team the opportunity to detect health concerns early, ensure vaccinations are current, and keep your pet on track for a long, healthy life.
Why Annual Exams Matter
Pets age much faster than humans, which means changes in their health can happen quickly—often in just a matter of months. Annual wellness exams help us catch issues in their earliest stages, before they become more serious or more costly to treat. Early detection can make all the difference when it comes to successful treatment and a better quality of life for your furry family member.
What to Expect During Your Pet’s Visit
Your pet’s wellness exam includes a complete head-to-tail physical assessment. One of our experienced veterinarians will examine:
- Eyes, ears, and mouth
- Skin, coat, and nails
- Heart and lungs
- Abdomen and internal organs
- Mobility
- Weight and overall body condition
We’ll also talk with you about your pet’s lifestyle, nutrition, behavior, and any concerns you may have. If needed, we may recommend diagnostic testing for a more in-depth evaluation.
Vaccinations & Preventive Care
Keeping your pet up to date on vaccines is a crucial part of preventive care. During the exam, we’ll review your pet’s vaccination records and provide any necessary boosters to protect against contagious and potentially serious diseases like rabies, distemper, parvovirus, Bordetella, and more.
Required Before Any Procedure
A current wellness exam is required before any procedure at our hospital—including spays, neuters, dental cleanings, and surgeries. This visit helps us evaluate your pet’s overall health and ensures they’re a safe candidate for anesthesia and treatment.
